January 30, 2024 there was an online follow-up on the Circo Track Circulaire schoonmaakbranche, where Asito / Houweling, Spectro and Paardekooper shared what steps they have taken in the meantime and which ones are still in the pipeline. Additional attendees at the meeting were Bowine Wijffels, transition manager for plastics Province of South Holland, Nadine Sciarli, Circular Plastic Alliance, Lisa sligting, NVZ and Joram van der Velde, category manager for cleaning at Rijk.

Spectro went to work with the recycled floor polish from a linoleum floor. They aim to reuse this for new floor polish to apply on floors. This is still proving tricky. First of all, to find the right proportions, but also because the gathered polish contains a lot of dirt. Spectro partnered with Progenta to tackle these problems. Progenta has waxed a floor, and will remove the wax from the floor in two weeks after which the tests for polishing wax will resume.

Asito and Houweling have made good strides and are starting two pilots. One pilot in cooperation with the Sint Fransiscus hospital and one with ABN AMRO. To carry out these pilots, many practical matters need to be arranged, which proved to be a challenge for Asito. Fortunately, Nadine from the Circular Plastic Alliance was also at the (online) table. She will use her experience to support Asito in this.

Finally, Paardekooper is focusing on garbage bags. They are developing a product that will be more separable than the current bags and therefore will not end up in the waste oven. This ensures that garbage bags will be easier and better recycled in the future.

Nice links were made during the follow-up. For example, NVZ is going to talk to the Circular Plastic Alliance to learn from the projects they have already undertaken regarding the recovery and processing of hard plastics. In addition, PZH is going into talks to change the system of wooden pallets in the cleaning industry to one with recycled plastic pallets.

A successful track with many hopeful goals for a circular future in which chain cooperation is central.
