How cool would it be when the whole of the Netherlands will soon be filled with duckweed tiles?

Interview with Emma Raijmakers from Flip the City

In 2020 Flip the City participated in the Circular Challenge. They were given six weeks to find a circular destination for duckweed, a waste stream from the Province of South Holland. After six weeks of hard work, Flip the City won the Circular Challenge with their prototype, a tile made from duckweed that grows into a biodiverse garden. Now, two years later, the team is not only busy developing the tile, but also expanding their expertise through other projects to make more impact and contribute to greening the city. We spoke to Emma Raijmakers, one of the co-founders of Flip the City, about the past two years and what the future holds for them.
